    How this is built

    • • WebGL2 renderer — 1,700 arm stars + 700 field stars in a single gl.POINTS draw call. The spiral is evaluated in the vertex shader, not on the CPU.
    • • Two logarithmic spiral arms viewed as a near face-on tilted disc. Rotation is rigid; differential rotation would wind the arms into a smear within seconds.
    • • GPU point sprites with a procedural fragment shader — diffraction spikes, twinkle, and core bloom are all in GLSL. Cursor drives parallax and disc tilt.
    • • Premultiplied blending with additive compositing (gl.ONE, gl.ONE) on the deep-space canvas in both themes — blue-white cool stars, warm gold core.
    • • Pauses completely when scrolled out of view, and renders a single static frame under prefers-reduced-motion.
    • • Planet markers are real <button> elements synced to the shader each frame — keyboard-navigable, no canvas hit-testing.
